Helping Local Residents Manage High Blood Pressure
I am currently working with patients from the Netherfield, Coffee Hall, Eaglestone, Beanhill, Fishermead and Springfield GP practices as part of the Milton Keynes Place Expansion programme.
Have you received a message from me inviting you to a group session?
If so, here are the details.
Time & Location
You are welcome to drop in to either of these weekly sessions over the next 6 weeks:
-
Beanhill Family Centre – Monday, 23 Feb to 30 Mar, 2–3pm
-
Trinity Centre, Fishermead – Saturday, 28 Feb to 4 Apr, 10–11am
These sessions are friendly, enjoyable and designed to help you feel more confident managing your health and blood pressure. You can join for social connection, education, and gentle movement — whatever feels right for you.
Before You Attend - Important
On the morning of your session, please take your blood pressure at home after sitting quietly for five minutes. For your safety, please do not take part in the movement session if your systolic reading is over 180 or your diastolic reading is over 100. Avoid taking part if your blood pressure is unusually higher or lower than normal for you, or if your heart rate is over 100. Please also sit out if you feel unwell, dizzy or light‑headed, if you’ve been advised not to exercise, or if you’re currently being reviewed due to a recent change in your health.
You are still welcome to attend for social interaction and education if you feel well.
What to Bring
Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in, trainers or secure footwear, some water, and your home blood‑pressure reading if you choose to take one.
What You Can Expect
Across the 6 weeks, you’ll learn practical ways to move well for your health and feel more confident living with high blood pressure.
The project is sponsored by Sport England and managed by Leap. As the Specialist Exercise Instructor, my role is to engage with residents, listen to their needs, and create welcoming group activities and learning opportunities that make movement feel achievable and enjoyable.

Keep Active, Keep Well – Respiratory Course
I am part of the team delivering the Keep Active, Keep Well Respiratory Course in Wolverton, and I am there every week supporting the physical activity side of the programme. I will help you move safely and confidently, and will share practical guidance on nutrition and the benefits of exercise and staying active when you are living with a respiratory condition.
The course is designed for adults who are newly diagnosed with COPD, early bronchiectasis, or asthma and want to understand their condition better while building strength, confidence, and day‑to‑day resilience.
Across the 8‑week programme, you will take part in gentle, structured exercise that’s tailored to your ability. I will guide you through an exercise taster and give you a simple home plan so you can keep progressing between sessions.
Alongside the activity, you will hear from different members of our team who join us throughout the course to deliver friendly, practical education sessions. These cover things like:
-
Breathing and airway clearance
-
Medication and inhaler use
-
Drug management
-
Basic Life Support
It is a relaxed, supportive environment with the aim is to help you feel more in control of your health, not to overwhelm you.
